On Sunday, November 14th, Sospiri will perform a variety of works by Tarquinio Merula.
This concert presents a variety of works by Tarquinio Merula, a revolutionary but lesser-known composer of the early Italian Baroque period.
Merula lived an intense life filled with intrigue, scandal, and tragedy, and his works reflect the complex and provocative nature of his character. With a wide range of vocal and instrumental chamber music, our program reveals a master of invention and a composer who helped to push musical frontiers in significant directions.
