Sospiri di Merula

This image is indecent. Just believe us.

Members of Sospiri will get to present works by Tarquinio Merula on Wednesday, August 11th as part of the 2021 Twin Cities Early Music Festival. We’re thrilled at the opportunity to participate in the festival.

The program is a mix of instrumental chamber works and pieces for soprano and violin, including a couple of really rocking Ciacconas. We are also excited to be joined by Michelle Wenderlich on violone.

Merula is one of the lesser-known gems of the early baroque. His music is as full of intrigue as his life, so we think you’ll enjoy hearing about both.
